Gates 6CR2 Two-Wire Hydraulic Hose Assembly - 9.5 mm (3/8") - SAE 100R2AT - Made to Your End-to-End Length
Gates 6CR2 Hydraulic Hose Assembly - 9.5 mm (3/8") bore, made to your end-to-end length
Made-to-length Gates PRO Series CR2 hose assembly, 9.5 mm (3/8") bore, rated 4,800 psi (331 bar). Pump pressure lines, ram and cylinder circuits, tippers, log splitters and excavator implement work - the hose that does most of the heavy lifting on a machine. You pick the length band and a fitting for each end, type your exact end-to-end measurement in millimetres, and we crimp it, pressure-test it, cap it and tag it before it ships. Genuine Gates hose, genuine two-piece tails, no mystery imports.
How to order - three steps
- Measure end to end in millimetres. Lay the old assembly flat and measure from the tip of one fitting to the tip of the other. That includes the fittings, not just the rubber. Everything on this page is in millimetres - if you only have an imperial tape, 1 inch is 25.4 mm.
- Pick your length band, then both ends. Every fitting is a genuine part with its code shown, sorted alphabetically so it is quick to find. Elbows are offered on End 1 only - there is a plain-English reason for that further down this page.
- Type the exact measurement in millimetres. We build to the millimetre you type, not to the band you picked.

One angled end per assembly - and why we insist on it
Elbows are only offered on End 1, and that is deliberate rather than a limitation. A hydraulic hose bends in one plane - up and over, or down and under - and it will not tolerate being twisted. Once both ends are crimped, the angle between them is locked in for the life of the hose. Put a fixed 90° on both ends and the only way to line the second one up on the machine is to wind twist into the hose. A twisted assembly loses a large share of its service life, pushes load straight into the crimps and is the single most common reason a good hose fails early.
We also cannot set that angle honestly from here. Getting two fixed elbows to point the right way needs the machine, the hose and a fitter in the same place at the same time - not us guessing a number on a crimping bench in another state.
So here is how our own fitters do it: one angled end, one straight end. The straight end swivels into position as you tighten it, so the assembly lines up every time. If your circuit truly needs a bend at both ends, order the assembly with the elbow on End 1 and screw a 90° or 45° adaptor onto the straight end. The adaptor rotates on its thread, which means you set the angle on the machine, with the hose in your hands, and you can adjust it again later. Cheaper to replace than a hose, too.
🔧 Shop 90° and 45° adaptors, elbows and tees
Both ends of a hose are interchangeable - there is no front or back - so it makes no difference which end we call End 1. Choose your elbow there, your straight fitting on End 2, and fit whichever way round suits the machine. Genuinely stuck with a double-elbow job? Email sales@hydraulic.online with photos and we will work it out with you rather than guess.
Two-piece ends, and how to pick them
Every CR2 assembly is built with two-piece hose tails - a tail plus its matched swage ferrule, crimped on our bench. It is the system Gates qualifies for PRO Series hose and it gives us the widest thread range, so you can have BSP one end and JIC or ORFS the other without compromise.
BSP swivel female is the Australian default - if you are unsure, that is most likely what you have. JIC 37° turns up on American gear, ORFS flat-face on late-model American and Japanese machines, Komatsu JIS and metric flat-face on Japanese and Chinese excavators, metric DKOL and DKOS on European equipment, and SAE Code 61 and 62 flanges bolt straight to pumps and motors.
Thread sizes are shown the way the standard names them - a BSP 1/2" thread is called 1/2" everywhere in the world, so converting it to millimetres would only make it harder to identify. Metric threads are shown in millimetres, as they should be. Hose bore, bend radius and length are millimetres first throughout.
Mining, tunnelling and site compliance
Gates lists mining among the industries for this hose, and the cover carries the MSHA Flame Resistant certification shown on the official Gates documentation below. Worth being straight with you though: MSHA is not the same as Australian FRAS certification. Gates does not claim AS 2660, NSW MDG 41 or RS 22 approval for this hose in any of their published data, and we will not either. If your site standard specifically calls for FRAS-certified hose, email us and we will quote a certified FRAS assembly instead - we would rather lose the sale than have the wrong hose underground.
Longest assembly we can build - 20 metres (20,000 mm)
Gates supplies 6CR2 on 121.91 m factory reels, so a single continuous assembly in this size tops out at 20 m (20,000 mm) end to end - that is why the length list stops there. Need a longer run? We supply it as two assemblies with an adaptor, or as the fittings loose with hose off the reel. Email sales@hydraulic.online and we will lay it out with you.
Not sure what thread you have? Measure it in 60 seconds
A BSP and a JIC of the same size look nearly identical until you try to seal them. Print our thread chart, lay your old fitting on it and match the diameter, pitch and seat angle - then pick that part from the lists above.

Still not certain? Photograph both ends next to a tape measure and send it to sales@hydraulic.online. Our technicians identify threads all day and will confirm before anything is crimped.

Technicians advice
Measure with the old assembly depressurised and laid flat - a stretched or curved measurement always comes up short. Leave a little slack too: hose shortens by up to 4% under pressure, and a drum-tight hose fails at the crimp first. Respect the 127 mm bend radius in the table above, and never bend hard right at the back of a fitting - that is what the elbow end on End 1 is for. When you fit it, hold the fitting hex with a second spanner while you tighten the swivel nut so the hose cannot twist; a twisted braided hose can lose most of its service life. If you find yourself twisting the hose to line an end up, stop and put an adaptor on it instead.
