Gerotor, Geroler or Disc Valve - which one do I need?
All three are low speed, high torque motors and they bolt up much the same way. The difference is inside, and it decides how hard you can work them.
Gerotor (MP, MM, HP, PL and MLHP series) - including this motor
What is inside: A gear set slides against the stator. Simpler build, lower cost.
Suited to: Fans, augers, sweeper brushes and conveyors. Lighter duty, intermittent running.
Geroler (MR, MLHR, RL, MH, MLHH and HWS series)
What is inside: Hardened rollers sit in the stator pockets, so the contact rolls rather than slides.
Suited to: More torque from the same frame size, much less internal wear, and it holds up running continuously under pressure. Winches, wheel and track drives, augers that work all day.
Disc Valve (MS, MT, MTM, MV, MYZ4B and MLH series)
What is inside: A flat rotating disc does the porting instead of a spool, so it seals better as pressure rises.
Suited to: The heavy end of the range. High pressure, high torque, long duty cycles - drilling, large drives, forestry and mining attachments.
If you are replacing a motor that kept wearing out in the same job, stepping up a type at the same displacement is usually the fix.

Displacements & Factory Part Numbers
Every size you select resolves to a real factory part number — what you order is exactly what appears on your invoice and the motor nameplate.
| Size code | Actual displacement | Max continuous speed | Max torque | Factory part number |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25CC | 28.4 cc/rev | 1408 rpm | 33 Nm | MPN 25 COD |
| 32CC | 34.5 cc/rev | 1450 rpm | 43 Nm | MPN 32 COD |
| 40CC | 40.5 cc/rev | 1480 rpm | 62 Nm | MPN 40 COD |
| 50CC | 49.5 cc/rev | 1210 rpm | 94 Nm | MPN 50 COD |
| 60CC | 59.5 cc/rev | 983 rpm | 110 Nm | MPN 60 COD |
| 80CC | 79.2 cc/rev | 755 rpm | 151 Nm | MPN 80 COD |
| 100CC | 99 cc/rev | 605 rpm | 193 Nm | MP 100 COD |

| 160CC | 158.4 cc/rev | 378 rpm | 313 Nm | MP 160 COD |
| 200CC | 198 cc/rev | 303 rpm | 366 Nm | MP 200 COD |
| 250CC | 247.5 cc/rev | 242 rpm | 380 Nm | MP 250 COD |

| 400CC | 396 cc/rev | 150 rpm | 360 Nm | MP 400 COD |
| 500CC | 495 cc/rev | 120 rpm | 390 Nm | MP 500 COD |
| 630CC | 623.6 cc/rev | 95 rpm | 440 Nm | MP 630 COD |
The size code is the factory’s frame designation, not the swept volume — an MPN 25 is a 28.4 cc/rev motor. Order by the code and the displacement column tells you what it actually shifts. Speeds are at maximum continuous flow.
Standard Supply Configuration
- SAE A two-bolt oval mounting flange (82.5mm spigot)
- ø25mm or 1" straight keyed shaft (standard)

Why Needle Roller Bearings Matter — Especially Under 100cc
Standard bearing arrangements in smaller displacement motors are a known weak point when the shaft carries any side load — sprockets, pulleys, chain drives, belt drives or direct wheel mounting all push sideways on the output shaft. Over time that radial load works a standard bearing beyond its design limit: premature bearing wear, shaft scoring and, in the worst cases, a seized or sheared shaft well before the motor's rated life.
Needle roller bearings support the shaft over a much greater contact area, dramatically increasing permissible radial load and reducing the risk of metal binding. In the field that means fewer failures, longer motor life and less downtime on any machine that drives more than a perfectly aligned inline coupling.
Our standard supply policy: every motor we supply under 100cc comes with needle roller bearings factory-fitted as standard. We do not supply plain-bearing motors in this size range unless specifically confirmed for an inline-drive-only application. From 100cc up, needle bearings are available as a custom factory build — contact us for a firm quote.
Not sure whether your setup side-loads the shaft? Send us a photo — we are a working hydraulic service centre and will tell you straight.
Custom Factory Builds
Need a different mount, shaft, port or bearing configuration? M+S builds them all to order — magneto and wheel mounts, splined and tapered shafts, needle bearings on larger sizes. These are factory-quoted builds with their own part numbers and pricing: contact us and we will confirm the exact code and a firm price before you commit. What you can buy instantly above is the standard catalogue configuration — the exact part number shown is exactly what ships.

Technician's Advice
When selecting a motor, match the displacement (cc/rev) to your required output speed and torque — not just the physical envelope. A higher displacement motor produces more torque at lower speed for the same flow rate.
Case drain: always ensure the case drain line is connected and returns to tank with minimal back pressure. An unconnected or blocked drain port is the single most common cause of premature shaft seal failure on orbital motors.
Running in a new motor: fill with fluid and run at moderate load for 5 to 10 minutes before applying full operating pressure. This beds the internal components in correctly and purges air from the case drain circuit. Never run a new motor straight to full load — bedding-in failures are avoidable and not covered by warranty.
If you are unsure which displacement or configuration suits your application, contact us directly. We are a functioning hydraulic service centre with over 20 years of hands-on experience — we are here to help you get it right the first time.

These bolt straight onto this motor’s port face — no manifold, no extra plumbing. The ones that fit this series:
- Crossline relief — caps shock pressure across the motor, 20 to 210 bar (DCF1202)
- Dual crossline relief — 50 to 210 bar, direct mount (KPDR 210)
- Shuttle valve — 250 bar, for brake release or a case line (KPWR)
- Counterbalance with brake release — holds an overrunning load (KPBR 250/1/D)
- Anti-cavitation valve — stops the motor pulling a vacuum when the load drives it (ACVOMP03)
Warranty & Service
All motors we supply carry a 12-month warranty. Seal kits are available separately. We are an active hydraulic service centre — not just a reseller. If you are identifying an existing motor for replacement, photograph all part numbers, displacement codes and stamped characters on the motor body and send them through with your enquiry.

Shipping and Freight Information
We ship hydraulic components across Australia from warehouses in Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia. Because we sell solid steel components — cylinders, pumps, motors, fittings, and hose assemblies — freight costs reflect real weight and real distance. We do not hide freight costs in inflated product prices. What you see is what you pay.
Hydraulic components are manufactured from solid steel. A single motor can weigh between 6 and 10 kg depending on displacement. Freight costs vary by product weight, dimensions, and your delivery location. We have negotiated the best available carrier rates for our volume and absorb a portion of freight cost on every order.
Estimated delivery timeframes:
- Standard parcels: 2–7 business days
- Heavy freight: 3–8 business days
- Orders placed before 12 Midday AEST ship same business day (where stock is available)
