Built tough for demanding Australian applications, the OP80 is a high-quality, manually actuated lever operated selector valve with optional lever lock or detent fitted as standard.

How to Install and connect up the 6 Port Selector / Diverter Valve to create an additional Hydraulic function:

Problem : Use a 6-Port Hydraulic Selector Valve for Rock Grab Rotator by using the Boom Swing Control function.


Challenge: Mick's excavator lacks dedicated hydraulic circuits to operate a newly installed rock grabber with a rotator.


Solution: Introduce a 6-port selector/diverter valve to manage flow between the boom swing function and the rock grab's rotator.


Components Required:

6-Port Diverter Valve (with Ports labelled A to F)

6 x Adaptors to connect original and new hydraulic hoses

4 x New Hydraulic Hoses for Existing Boom Swing cylinder and new rotator motor on Rock Grab


Process:

Diverting Flow: Identify the less frequently used supply and return lines to a function
(in this example we selected the boom swing cylinder function).
Disconnect the two hoses connected to the boom swing cylinder (coming from he original excavator control valve.


Connecting to Diverter Valve:
Connect the original two supply hoses to and from the boom swing cylinder to Port A and Port B of the 6-port diverter valve.
(It doesn't matter which as the original machine valve will control flow direction)


New Boom Swing Supply:

Make up and Connect 2 new hoses from Port C and Port D of the selector valve to the two ports on the boom swing cylinder.


Rotator Control:
Make up and Install 2 new hydraulic lines from Port E and Port F of the selector valve to the rock grab's rotator ports.


Operation:


Boom Swing Engaged: When the Selector valve remains in its default position, oil flows freely through the chosen path (A to C or B to D) powering the boom swing function as usual. Oil returns from the boom swing cylinder through the other path (D to B or C to A) and back to the oil reservoir.


Boom Swing Lock and Rotator Activation: By flipping the lever on the diverter valve, Ports C and D are blocked. This effectively locks the boom swing cylinder in place by stopping oil flow in both directions. Simultaneously, Ports E and F open, allowing oil to flow and control the rock grabber's rotator function.

Enables independent operation of the boom swing and the rock grabber with rotator.
Provides precise control over rock positioning with the rotator function while the boom is stationary.
Utilizes existing hydraulic components with minimal modification.
