Tail Ramp Powerpack / Manual Lever Control, Complete Hydraulics Package
Hydraulic Tailgate Kit contains; a high-quality DC Power Pack with Double Acting Cylinders with 'Hose Burst valves' (velocity valves) plus a manual single spool lever control valve + hose & hose fittings & adapters.

This is a ready-to-fit package for your beaver tail, step deck, or low loader.
Powered by 12 or 24 Volt DC this compact Hydraulic Power Pack is ready to fit where you prefer to use a directional control lever (DCV) instead of a full electric control pendant style (see our other listings).

Single Acting Hydraulic Ramp Kit.

It is an ideal tail ramp power/control unit. The rams, hose & fittings are included.

This P & T powerpack is designed to supply an oil flow of 5 Lt/Min at a Pressure of 2500 PSI. The Directional Control Valve has an in-built micro switch that automatically starts/ stops the power pack when the lever is moved.

The Directional Control Valves lever will spring back to center automatically, thus stopping current to the powerpack, and also locking your ramps in place. This power pack is well-sized for most tail loaders. Double Acting + "Float" valve.

This valve is the best option if you ever park on the very soft muddy ground. Ramps will power both up & down, and will also 'hold' in the center lever position, but it also has a 4th extra lever position, so that when ramps are down, they are not locked. This is important if ramps are driven on soft ground.

With other options, ramps are hydraulically locked, & a heavy machine in mud can actually bend Ram rods if ramps are not supported firmly.

These are designed for a standard ramp-style set-up, if you have a larger or heavier loading ramp you may require one of our High-Powered DC Power Packs, for an extra $325.

This package will lift the same tonnage as our higher KW power unit, however, the bigger KW unit will move the ramps faster. The speed/Duty cycle of the power pack is the main difference. Most trailers will not require this option.

We supply 6000 psi Two wire hoses & field-fit reusable hose tails.
This means you are able to cut the hose to length & install reusable
hose tails using a vice & a spanner.

We also supply two 'Safety Burst valves'. These are required by law so that if a hose is ripped off, the ramps will not crash down.

Items required additionally; (NOT Supplied) Cable/wire for electric hook-up, ramps, or batteries. A high amp welding cable is ideal from the battery to the power pack. Contact us for custom-length crimped hoses, or buy from our field fit re-usable section.

Please keep in mind all DC power packs use a lot of amperages & create a lot of heat. They are designed only for intermittent use. See the bottom of this page for an estimate of the duty cycle.
How Do I Work Out What Stroke Rams I Need?
The measurements of the ram you need to take note of, are the 'open & closed' sizes. These are measured from pin to pin with the ram fully closed & then fully extended.

Mark a spot on the rear of the trailer where you are going to weld your 1" thick ram bottom mount. Then, mark a spot up on the ramps for the top mount, ie for a 28” ram, mark at 1733mm with ramp in an upright position. If possible weld mount where the ram is fully extended, this way, the ram 6-tonne force is contained on full extension.

Then, drop the ramp on the ground, and use our given 'closed' measurements to mark in pen or tape a spot on the ramp. Keep in mind, you need to leave a few inches of the rod showing when the ramp is on the ground, to allow for uneven ground, etc.

Then lift the ramp, & again use our 'Open measurement to see what ram has the closest open & closed measurements to suit your build. There are two photos of a customer's ramps below. These rams are a 28" stroke. As you can see when ramps are on flat hard ground, there are several inches of ram travel left. This means if ramps ever had to be lowered onto sloping ground, they could further descend.

Intermittent use only!
